You can replace a value in records where it is used with another value.

For example, you create an activity that must in some places be used instead of an existing activity. You first find and review the records in which the existing activity is used. Select the records in which you want to replace the existing activity and replace it with the new activity.

Standard procedure

1. Open a workspace. For example, Business process modeling.
2. Open an elements page. For example, Activities.
3. Select the record that you want to replace.
First you search where this record is used.
In the list, find and select the desired record.
4. Click Find and replace.
5. On the Find records dialog, click OK.
6. On the Find page, click Edit.
7. The tree shows the types of elements where the selected activity is used.
In the tree, select 'the type of element where you want to replace the activity'.
8. In the Find results section, all elements, of the selected type, are shown in which the activity is used.
You can select the elements where you want to replace the activity.
In the list, find and select the desired record.
9. Click Replace to open the drop dialog.
10. Select the activity with which you want to replace the searched for activity.
In the list, find and select the desired record.
11. Click OK.
12. On the Replace dialog, click OK.
13. Close the page.
14. Close the page.

Notes

  • On the Find form, you can repeat these steps on the find results as often as required.
  • For each find operation, the result is logged in the operations history. It can, for example, be that you didn't yet finish replacing values in the found records. A next time, you can open the logged find operation results to continue replacing values. You can do so from the Operations history tab on the Business process management workspace.
