If a task recording is linked to a RapidValue activity, you can edit it as well from the activity.

On the Task recorder, you can:

  • Change the name and description of the recording.
  • Add, change, or delete steps.

If you are ready making changes to the recording:

  1. On the Task recorder, click Done editing.
  2. Click Save to RapidValue.
You can also save the task recording from the Task recorder to the Downloads folder on your PC in these ways:
  • Click Save to this PC. As a result, the task recording is saved as an AXTR file.
  • Click Save as developer recording. As a result, the task recording is saved as an XML file.
For an activity, you can upload an AXTR file or an XML file from you PC.
As a result, of saving a task recording to RapidValue or uploading a task recording to an activity, the recorded steps are saved as activity steps. Note that not only the step descriptions are saved, but also the step titles and notes, if defined.
If you added a sub task to the task recording, this is also saved as such to the activity steps.
Warning! If already steps are available for an activity and you save or upload a task recording, the existing steps are deleted, and the recorded steps are added.

1. Click Business process modeling.
2. Click the Business processes tab.
3. Click Edit hierarchy.
4. In the tree, select 'a node'.
5. Click the Activities tab.
6. In the list, find and select the desired record.
7. Click Task guide.

Notes

  • Only if you record a new task guide for an activity, the activity description is copied automatically to the task guide description. Therefore, you are advised to finish the activity description before you record a new task guide.
  • As the texts in the Task recorder are plain texts, any formatting that you have in the activity description is lost when it is copied to the task guide description. Check the copied description and re-arrange if required. For example, you can 'fake' a bulleted list with '- ' prefixes.
  • You can also edit activities from the:
    • Activities page.
    • Flow previews: click an activity on the flow.
    • Flow design page: select an activity and click View details.
  • From RapidValue you can record and play task guides, either directly within the current environment or in a remote D365 FO environment. Remote task recording can be set up general on solution level or business process-specific using categories.
