Use a business process of type Process to define the process and the related flow to be done.

Add a business process of type Process to these types of business processes:

  • Phase
  • Group
  • Process
  • Supporting processes


Standard procedure

1. Click Business process modeling.
2. Click the Business processes tab.
3. Click Edit hierarchy.
4. Sub-task: Add new process.
  4.1 In the tree, select 'a node'.
  4.2 Click New.
  4.3 In the Name field, type a value.
  4.4 In the Type field, select 'Process'.
  4.5 You can change the default area.
  In the Area field, enter or select a value.
  4.6 You can use categories to link business processes to a specific purpose. So, in one solution, you can combine business processes for several purposes. Purposes can be, for example, training, user assistance, RSAT (Remote server administration tool), or security.
For each business process, you can define to which categories it belongs. You can use business process categories to:
- Publish a subset of business processes to a business process library in Lifecycle Services.
- Record or play task guides in another D365 FO environment. On a category, you can define a connection to another D365 FO environment.
  In the Category field, enter or select a value.
  4.7 In the Description field, you can type a value.
  4.8 Click OK.
5. Sub-task: Add process for existing flow.
  5.1 In the tree, select 'a node'.
  5.2 Click New.
  5.3 Click the Flow tab.
  5.4 You can add one or more existing flows to the business process hierarchy. You can select any flow that belongs to the current solution or its referenced solutions. As a result, for each selected flow, a node is added of type Process and with the flow name.
  In the list, find and select the desired flows.
  5.5 Click OK.

Notes

  • If you use sub-flows in a flow, you can consider to add these sub-flows as child business processes to the business process hierarchy.
  • You can also cut/copy and paste a business process. To do so, select a business process and in the Hierarchy pane, click Tools, Cut or Copy. Select another business process and click Tools, Paste.
