Before you start using engineering change management, set the engineering change parameters.

Standard procedure

1. Go to Product engineering > Setup > Product engineering parameters.
2. Click the Engineering change tab.
3. Define the default category for engineering change orders and engineering change requests.
In the Category field, enter or select a value.
4. Define the default priority for engineering change orders and engineering change requests.
In the Priority field, enter or select a value.
5. Define how the severity is determined of engineering change orders and engineering change requests. You can choose:

Manual:
Set the severity of engineering change orders and engineering change requests manually. You can choose from a list of predefined severities.

Calculate:
On the engineering change request page or the engineering change order page, you can click Calculate to determine the severity of engineering change orders and engineering change requests. Based on the changes, a set of predefined severity rules is applied to set the severity.

Calculate automatically:
When you submit an engineering change request or engineering change order to the workflow, automatically the severity is determined based on a set of predefined severity rules.
In the Severity rule field, select an option.
6. Define if all impacted products should always be re-released when you complete an engineering change order or only products that are changed.

All products:
If you re-release products with an engineering change order, all impacted products are re-released.

Changed products only:
If you re-release products with an engineering change order, only the changed products are re-released.
In the Re-release impacted products field, select an option.
7. Define the BOM level restriction that is applicable for re-releasing products with an engineering change order. You can choose:
