With an outbound document flow, besides the main EDI message, you can send additional EDI messages. When the main EDI message is added to the outbound queue, the additional EDI messages are added to the outbound queue as well.

You can choose to send an additional EDI message using a message or a web service. If you use a web service, use an outbound web service action with the desired message as request message.

To set up an additional message for an outbound document flow:

  1. On the EDI document flows page, select the desired outbound document flow.
  2. On the Action pane, on the Design tab, click Additional setup.
  3. Click New, and fill in the fields as desired. For more information on the fields, refer to the outbound document flow setup.

Example

In some countries, when you send an invoice to a customer, you must also send a copy of the invoice to the government. This government copy can require other information compared to a customer invoice. In this case, you can set up a document flow to send the customer invoice as main EDI message, and the government invoice copy as additional EDI message. So, these EDI messages are sent at the same time.
