If you use staging journals, you can set up the applicable journal validations. For each staging journal-related table, you can define the applicable validation rules.
You define:
  • The journal-related table for which to set up validation rules.
  • To which document flow type the validation rules apply.
  • The validation rules to be applied. You can select from pre-defined or customized validation rule classes.
  • The sequence in which the validation rules are applied.
  • For each validation rule, to which legal entity it applies (optional).


Standard procedure

1. Click Connectivity studio EDI Party setup.
2. Click Validation rules.
3. Click New.
4. You can set up validation rules for each staging journal-related table.
Each staging journal has at least a journal and a trans table. The sales order staging journal also has an address table.
  In the Table name field, enter or select a value.
5. Define the document flow type to which the validation rules for the selected table apply.
Select the document flow type:
- 'Order' for the EDI sales order staging journal.
- 'Confirmation' for the EDI purchase confirmation staging journal.
- 'Picking' or 'Product receipt' for the EDI inventory order staging journal.
  In the Document flow field, select an option.
6. Sub-task: Select validation rules.
  6.1 In the Validation rules section, click Select rules.
  6.2 A validation rule can apply to all legal entities or to specific legal entity. If the selected validation rules apply to a specific legal entity, define the legal entity.
  In the Company accounts ID field, enter or select a value.
  6.3 In the list, find and select the desired record.
  6.4 Click OK.
7. Sub-task: Manually add a validation rule.
  7.1 In the Validation rules section, click New.
  7.2 Define the validation rules to be applied for the selected table.
  In the Name field, enter or select a value.
 

Note: You can only select validation rule classes that are related to the selected table.

  7.3 For each validation rule, you can define to which legal entity it applies.
  In the Company field, enter or select a value.
8. Sub-task: Change validation rule sequence.
  8.1 Make sure, the validation rules are sorted in the sequence in which these must be applied.
  In the Validation rules section, in the list, find and select the desired validation rule.
  8.2 Click Move up.
  8.3 In the Validation rules section, in the list, find and select the desired validation rule.
  8.4 Click Move down.
9. Close the page.
