Maintain data sets

In the Data modeling studio, a data set defines the data to be exported by a data model. To maintain a data set, you can:

  • Validate a data set: Checks if the data set fields exist as fields in the applicable D365 FO table. Validation also checks the field settings.
  • Validate and fix a data set: Does the validation and makes the data set fields and field settings in line with the corresponding D365 FO table fields and field settings
  • Publish a data set: The changes to the data set are deployed to the target database. The table structure in the target data base is recreated. Note: Deploying a data set only works if the data set is linked to a data model.

Validation checks if the data set fields exist as fields in the applicable D365 FO table. Validation also checks the field settings. Procedure 1. Go to Data modeling studio > Data modeling studio > Data sets. 2. In the list, find and select the desired data set. 3. On the Action Pane, click Maintain. 4. Click Validate. The data set fields and field settings are made in line with the corresponding D365 FO table fields and field settings. For example, if a data set field does no longer exist in the D365 FO table, it is removed from the data set. Procedure 1. Go to Data modeling studio > Data modeling studio > Data sets. 2. In the list, find and select the desired data set. 3. On the Action Pane, click Maintain. 4. Click Validate and fix. Is the data set changed  and is it linked to a  data model? Is the data set changed  and is it linked to a  data model? Deploy data set Deploy data set In the Data modeling studio, a data set defines the data to be exported. You can deploy a data set. As a result, in the target database, the related table is deleted and recreated based on the deployed data set. Note: You can only deploy a data set if it is linked to a data model. When you deploy a data set, the related table in the target database is deleted. Also the existing data is removed. The next time you export the related data model, the data is recreated in the target database. Procedure 1. Go to Data modeling studio > Data modeling studio > Data sets. 2. In the list, find and select the desired data set. 3. On the Action Pane, click Maintain. 4. Click Deploy. 5. Click Yes. End End Yes No

In the Data modeling studio, a data set defines the data to be exported. You can deploy a data set. As a result, in the target database, the related table is deleted and recreated based on the deployed data set.

Note:

  • You can only deploy a data set if it is linked to a data model.
  • When you deploy a data set, the related table in the target database is deleted. Also the existing data is removed. The next time you export the related data model, the data is recreated in the target database.
