In an import message mapping, you can have financial dimensions mapped. When the message is run, the mapping is applied. Before setting the imported financial dimensions in D365 FO, you can have the standard financial dimension validations applied. This prevents you from getting incorrect financial dimensions in D365 FO.

Setup

In the Business integration solutions parameters, in the BIS Financial dimension validation field, you can indicate whether and how financial dimensions are validated.

  • Ignore: The financial dimensions are not validated
  • Custom: The financial dimensions, account structures, and advanced rules are validated. When an error is found, validation continues. The validation stops when all financial dimensions, account structures, and advanced rules are validated, or when further validation doesn't make sense. The found errors are logged in the message run history.
  • Standard: The financial dimensions, account structures, and advanced rules are validated. When the first error is found, the validation stops. The error is logged in the message run history.

Note:

If the 'Custom' or 'Standard' financial dimension validation is applicable, in the message field mapping setup, you can skip the validation for an individual financial dimension field mapping.

Validation

Financial dimension validation is only applicable if, in a message field mapping, financial dimensions are set. If so, during the message run, the financial dimensions are validated in this sequence:

  1. Financial dimension value.
  2. Applicable account structures. Note: If a financial dimension value validation gives an error, the related account structures are not validated.
  3. Applicable advanced rules. Note: If an account structure validation gives an error, the related advanced rules are not validated.

Note:

The financial dimension validation, as done for options 'Custom' and 'Standard':

  • Is time consuming.
  • Only applies to record mappings for the LedgerJournalTrans table.
