For work that is often or usually subcontracted, you can set up the relevant subcontract pricing that is used as default pricing in the estimation of a project quotation.

The required setup for these category groups is: The Subcontract check box is selected. The Transaction type is Expense. For more information, refer to Create category groups for projects. Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Category groups. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category group field, type a value. 4. In the Transaction type field, select an option. 5. In the Category group name field, type a value. 6. In the Line property field, enter or select a value. 7. Select Yes in the Subcontract field. 8. Click Save. Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Shared categories. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category ID field, type a value. 4. In the Category name field, type a value. 5. Select Yes in the Can be used in Project field. 6. Click Save. When you create a project category: Use a shared category as created before. Use a subcontract category group as created before. Make sure that on the Project FastTab, the Subcontract is set to Yes and the Transaction type is set to expense automatically. For more information, refer to Create categories for projects. Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Project categories. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category ID field, enter or select a value. 4. Expand the Project section. 5. In the Category group field, enter or select a value. Note: The subcontract flag will switch to Yes upon selecting the category group set as a subcontract. 6. Select Yes in the Active in journals field.
